Liberal Democrats are calling for a comprehensive review of industrial development along one of West Ends most attractive rural roads.

Planners at Surrey Heath Borough Council are continuing to allow more development of industry, often with retrospective planning permission, in this narrow country road supported by Surrey County Council who say there is no problem with heavy traffic using this road.

Cllr Judy Douch said "We need a comprehensive review of the long term development of this section of our village before it is too late. A once quiet country road has become industrialised and nothing is being done about the overall impact. It's also a pity that the Planners and Highways people don't get their facts right! Heavy lorries, lorries with trailers, vans and cars serving over 40 companies speed along this derestricted straight section of rural road. This is inappropriate development in a rural setting and is causing a danger - must we wait for an unnecessary fatality before action is taken?"

Cllr Jill Catley told Focus: "Lucas Green, Priest Lane and Ford Road residents are fed up with the lack of response from our Planners and Highways Department. The road edge is continually being worn away and the recent floods made matters a lot worse. We call upon Surrey County Council to send an experienced engineer to assess this situation on the ground, and not view it from the comfort of County Hall!"
