£58 million underspend

Liberal Democrats are furious that Surrey's Conservative controlled council had an underspend last year of a staggering £58 million.

This is despite the Conservative council trying to sell off buildings all over the County, projects in our schools being stopped, services being cut and Council Tax going up. £58 million underspend Local campaigner Cindy Ferguson said, "Roads remain unfixed, youth services have been cut and the council has done this supposedly because of a lack of money. However with a £58 million underspend their figures and their arguments do not add up!".

Local campaigner Judy Douch added, "This is an utter disgrace. I have major works that need doing on the roads in our area and I was told there is no money. Now I am told there is, but we haven't spent it. The Conservatives are financially incompetent - they have failed to provide the services local people have paid for. It's just not good enough!"
