Commenting on the Conservatives mimicking the Lib Dems call for change, local Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate Alan Hilliar said:

"Every day we get closer to this election it is clear that people want change. This election is now a two-horse race between us and the Conservatives.

So the question is what kind of change? The Liberal Democrats stand for a fair society, where hard work is rewarded and what people contribute to society is based on what they can afford.

  • The key to building a fair society is a fair tax system. In a fair tax system when you work hard you will keep more of your money and those who can and should pay more the very wealthy and polluters will pay their fair share.

  • By closing loopholes and taxing aviation fairly we'll make sure you don't pay a penny of tax on the first £10,000 you earn, freeing 3.6m pensioners and the lowest paid from income tax altogether, and giving everyone else £700 back.

  • The Conservatives will use the tax system to reward wealth, not work.

Their Inheritance tax giveaway will cost £6bn over the course of the next Parliament

It is aimed at the wealthiest 0.8% of estates in the UK

Every year, 3000 of the wealthiest estates in the country would each benefit by almost £250,000

  • The Conservatives will build a society that is less fair and more divided.

  • Join the only party that now stands for fairness, and stands up for ordinary working people. You can make the difference.
