Liberal Democrat candidates for Surrey County Council Elections (June 4th 2009)On June 4th 2009, elections will be held for Surrey County Council. There are eight County Council Divisions in the Surrey Heath parliamentary constituency, six of these within the Surrey Heath Borough Council area, and two in the Guildford Borough Council area. Cindy Ferguson has lived locally in Surrey Heath for 25 years. She was a borough councillor from 2003 - 2007 for Mytchett & Deepcut during which time she sat on various committees. These included Policy & Resources and Standards, the latter of which deals with ethical behaviour in public life. In addition, she represented the Council on Deepcut Village Association where she successfully helped fight for the serious problems with the building to be rectified by the developer. Her particular interests are in education, health and transport and the strategies needed to maximise the benefits for all residents. Cindy is an experienced campaigner who understands the working of Local Government and who would devote herself to obtaining the best from the County Council for the residents of Frimley Green, Mytchett & Deepcut. Frances Bennie has lived in Heatherside and Parkside since 1974, first in Redwood Drive and then Youlden Drive.She has served three times on Surrey Heath Borough Council as Councillor for Heatherside ward.Fran has built up a strong record of service to the community and has a reputation for getting things done! Fran is a member of Heatherside Community Association Management Committee and also of Camberley Citizens Advice Bureau, and is on Camberley Committee of Macmillan Cancer Care. Ruth Hutchinson has lived in Bagshot almost 25 years. She is married with four children. She is a Windlesham Parish Councillor for Bagshot Ward. As a former nurse she is interested in the standards of the local Health Services and in working with the elderly knows the importance of providing adequate support. Ruth is known for her campaigning for improvements that benefit all residents. I've taught at Ash Grange, Walsh Infants and Newport Junior Schools where I was involved in music, early years and literacy. I've recently retired and I'm focusing on my interests in the local community. I'm currently Chair of Ash Citizens Advice Bureau and a I'm a past Governor at Shawfield First School. I've also been a local councillor on Ash Parish Council focusing on planning and finance issues. Amongst other things I help as a Pastoral Assistant at St Peter's church Ash, helping with marriage and wedding preparation. My husband Alan and I live in the Aldershot Road, in Ash. Shalford (inc. I've been a local councillor on Guildford Borough and Ash Parish Councils for around ten years, where I took a special interest in planning, countryside, conservation and creative arts. I live in Ash,, where both Carolyn and I have been local Liberal Democrat councillors, and active in our local community. I've led successful campaigns to save green field sites from large scale housing developments I work as a business consultant specialising in managing change .
