Councils across Surrey are riddled with debt. It is clear that we need people with business experience
to fix the mess the Conservative administrations have left.
Our Lib Dem team on Surrey Heath Borough Council has saved 19% of the council’s budget under
severe financial pressures.
Simon will be a great addition to the new council and has got extensive experience working in the
construction industry. Richard has been part of the Lib Dem council helping to reduce Surrey Heath
Borough Council’s debt, whilst flying an A380 airbus.
Together, we will build the new council on efficiency and accountability to ensure we can deliver the
best services for you whilst managing the Conservative debt.

Get to know your candidates!
Simon has lived in Surrey since 1968, educated at local schools and has worked in the construction
industry for over 35 years. He is married with two daughters and lives in near Bagshot. Simon enjoys
hiking, rides a motorbike and is a keen squash player. He is passionate about highway safety and the
poor state of our roads.
Richard has lived in the area for over 25 years, working as an airline pilot as a Captain, flying the
huge Airbus A380 aircraft. In 2023, he changed to part-time to give more time for his duties as a
councillor. Since being elected, he has specialised in planning, community safety, audit and scrutiny
functions of the Council. He can often be seen hiking on the many footpaths and bridleways
connecting Bagshot, Windlesham and Chobham. He helped to lead the successful 1 Windlesham
campaign.
