Greenbank Way Play Park Survey

COMPLETE THE SURVEY

Dear Neighbour,

In 2015 Surrey Heath Borough council was virtually debt free. Paying little or no debt interest and focusing on delivering services to residents.

This was just before the Surrey Heath Conservatives decided to purchase an already failing shopping centre in Camberley with no independent valuation and then double down by purchasing the House of Fraser building, an asbestos riddled department store with its tenant failing to properly maintain the building.

Fast forward to today and we now find our council drowning in interest payments on property debts of circa £200 million and staring bankruptcy in the face - this year alone our council will be forced to spend the best part of £10 million on those loans and interest payments.

In February 2025, councillors from all political parties agreed on a tough budget to try and prevent bankruptcy; part of this budget relied upon generating money from various under-used assets. These assets include the small piece of land on Greenbank Way (between numbers 23 and 25).

Several local residents have suggested it would be good to have play equipment for some of our younger residents such as swings, slide, football goals on the much larger protected green space at the start of the road by the Montessori School.

We would like to hear your ideas before we proceed with exploring ways to improve amenities in your area, so we have set up a quick survey to get your views.
